Blue Collar IT
I was informed by a user today that my job entails physically moving computers from office to office. I was unaware of this and naively thought it was the movers' job to move stuff. Silly me! After all, when you want your car towed you call the mechanic right? When you want filing cabinets moved, you call the filer right?
I typically move things only when it is more practical to do so. For instance, if a printer needs to be moved, and there isn't a major move going on, I'm more than happy to roll up my sleeves and move the dang thing. If a move is occurring though, I'm probably busy with real work (like helping people find where to plug in the mouse...LOL) and would much prefer the movers to do their job while I do mine.
I particularly dislike the SC (Spoiled Child) users. SCUs are the pansies who ask you to do something, and when they get an answer that they dislike, ask your coworkers the same thing hoping to get a different answer. Fortunately, my coworker is as sarcastic as I am, because she's in IT after all. Which brings me to my joke of the day, an ITFury original:
Q: What do you get when you take the sarcasm from an IT worker?
A: A postman.
